(Rough track released into the wild... we gigged this quite a lot at one point, me and the band, and I have notes somewhere for exciting alt-vocal parts should I ever record it in a studio setting, but that will be a while off, I think)
It was something in a bubble-pack that set me off - the thing could have been sold as it was, but it had to be presented in a shiny plastic bubble and with a big sheet of card, so as to tempt the buyer. We like our shiny, don't we? And shiny's pretty, sure. But the shinification of things that really *aren't*... and the packaging that ensues, and the waste that results, are really not needful. Or useful. Or sustainable. No, thank you, it doesn't need to be gift-wrapped. I have my own bag, thank you.
I think I had just escaped a trip to a shopping centre - one of the chrome-and-silver no-windows sort. I'm not very comfortable in those places. They just... don't feel human-scaled, to me.
