(Rough track, released into the wild... I think I only gigged this song once.)
If you knew me about twenty years ago... you may have seen me in this dress. I still have it. I bought it at the St Peter's Hospice shop when I lived in Bristol, for £2.50, hoping that it fitted me, no time to try it on... it fitted me. Then. I wore it to parties, I wore it at gigs, I wore it on dates, and I wore it on my first trip to the US as a guest at a convention.
Time passes, things change, and I don't fit it anymore. But that's alright. My plum velvet dress and I, we went places. And now... I still go places, but the dress hangs in the wardrobe. And that's alright.
I love every song on this album. So many moments that make me unexpectedly (or expectedly in some cases) emotional. While it’s not my favorite to sing along to, I think the song that will lodge itself into my heart forever is Anna. It makes me think of all the dreams I never quite could reach but still cling to.
