I've sung this song so many places, and always with pleasure. It's been a favourite of mine for years, a dear friend and travelling companion. It was inspired by a picnic on the moors with my kinswoman and her horse-owning friend - we travelled there on the back of a cart, pulled by piebald Jack... This version was recorded some years ago as part of a demo CD - 'Scarlet for Hunting' - which I used at the time. I still enjoy singing this, and one day perhaps you'll hear the rest of the story.
